The Alverdes Name

When most people hear the name "Alverdes," they assume it is Spanish. It is however, without a doubt, German origin, dating back to as far as the 1500's on paper, and research has turned up mentions of the name as far back as the 1300's and possibly even the 1100's. There are two branches of the Alverdes Family. The Saxonian branch and the Pomeranian branch. The Alverdes family that has resided in America since 1890 is from the Pomeranian branch.
